Dear Television News Reporters, WMGX Listener/Request Line: 207-792-6278
It has been more than a year since I submitted a CD of my music to WMGX and Brian Poulin and Ethan Minton prevented a Pop Country song called 'Crazy' written by me and sung by David Fox from being played on the radio as he claimed "it did not fit the format". Well, I forgot about it and then tried to call Charlie Gaylord of WCLZ and putting one of my songs on Area Code 207 and Charlie told me specifically, "...get people here in Maine to record your songs." It is pretty sad that Maine treats artists from away better than people who live here. Very sad. Bullshit. I should be able to be played on the radio whether my songs are recorded in Maine or elsewhere. However, it appears Maine radio DJs have a DISCRIMINATION POLICY of not playing music by Local Professional Pop Songwriters who come from Maine who were originally born in NYC. What is up with that? I have brought my CDs to a number of area radio stations and they don't call me back, even when I e-mail them. I sent a CD to WCLZ and ETHAN MINTON turned out to be the Program Director there for the Portland Radio Group too and he again said, "The songs do not fit the radio format." If WCLZ can play Pop Tunes by Peter Gabriel and other recording artists like GENESIS, Jewel, etc. then they should have no problem playing my songs on WCLZ and WMGX. Now, Randy Kirschbaum is also claiming the songs do not fit the WMGX format because they are not RADIO HITS that have BEEN ESTABLISHED HITS when they clearly are and I would not be contacting you to do a NEWS STORY about THIS IMPORTANT PROBLEM if I did not have a case here. I have called the President of the Portland Radio Group (Cary Phigian) and he says, "If I find out that Ethan Minton is doing this I will personally fire him." So far, I have no idea what is going on as they refuse to e-mail me back about the fact that they are playing the songs on the radio or not. I am that good. I don't have time for games. I am a Professional.
My songs can be listened to on http://www.garageband.com under the name of Ashley Lenartson Band or found @
http://www.maverickthemusicalcowboy.blogspot.com under older posts (The orange and blue radio button for garageband) Click on that icon and you will get me.
This problem has gone on long enough and I am not going to take it anymore.
Please contact me about doing a NEWS STORY as I have no problem speaking to one of your reporters about the whole issue of why my songs will not be played on the PRG (Portland Radio Group). The head of the Portland Radio Group is Cary Phigian 774-4561 or 774-6364.
I know the reason the songs are not being played: Ethan is trying to keep me off the radio on account of an incident that happened in 1984 when my sister and I moved out of a house we lived in at 808 Congress Street and he tried to cancel payment on Security Deposits and did not want my sister nor I in the House. So, my twin sister and I took him to court and won the case and he had to pay the money back. He did a good job of harrassing both of us out of the house we lived in at the time by having one of his roommates harrass my sister to death. It was a messed up situation that did not make sense until recently.
Ethan cannot continue to impede my music business here in Maine as he is opening himself up for a lawsuit by impeding my business for no reason at all and not being a Professional and overlooking the b.s. that went on at the time and obviously is not able to separate his personal life from his private life because if he did this he would not be putting me through a living hell.
If you will recall there was also an incident where he was raising money for a certain cause, I don't remember what the cause was and he got caught embezzeling money he had raised and it was quite embarrassing for him and the people involved as he tried to take the money and run, like Steve Miller would say.
I want the songs played on WCLZ and WMGX and will not tolerate this anymore on account of the fact that these songs are worth millions of dollars. This is not an easy matter to be dealing with and there is no excuse for it.
You can have one of your reporters contact me at the e-mail address I am providing or you can call me at 207-774-5079 or 207-239-5037 (Cell Phone) to discuss the best time to do this news story.
Ashley Lenartson
Professional Songwriter
P.S. One of the reasons I lost the Comedy Connection Stand Up Professional Comedy Contest a few years back was the fact that I went over the allotted time: I was supposed to do three minutes and I ended up doing 9 minutes. I forgot why I was on stage but this is not about my Comedy Career it is about my Professional Songwriting Career.
I am trying to break the song, 'A Girl Like You' sung by Phil Gentile on WCLZ and WMGX but you'd think I was the worst songwriter that ever lived thanks to all this rejection I am receiving. Quite the opposite is true. That song is a Pop AOR Radio Ballad. You can listen to a snippet of that song @ http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/lenartson And you can also listen to the song 'Crazy - Dea Mederez' (Pop Ballad 3:22) that is included on the CD: The Magical Songs of Ashley Lenartson: Looking Through The Eyes of Love with my songs on it and for sale @ CD Baby. I am not going to get anywhere unless the songs get played on the radio and I am only trying to break my songs on radio here in Portland, Maine. They were played on WMPG and I had a perfect radio interview there. What gives???
